Planning meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at St. Joan of Arc Parish in Lisle, starting at 7:30 p.m. Business meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of the month at St. Scholastica Parish in Woodridge, starting at 7:30 p.m. Our council hosts a large number of council activities throughout the year. Our council hosts a Weekly Bingo on Saturday Night at First Class Bingo and Raffle, located in Bolingbrook at 374 Bolingbrook Commons. The hall is in a shopping mall next to Century Tile off of Route 53 just north of I-55. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and Bingo starts at 7:00 p.m. Council sponsored activities include: Corporate Communions, Memorial Mass, Altar Server Recognition, Parish Picnic and Appreciation Dinner support, Blood Drives, Candlelight Bowling, Baseball and Football Outings, Hayrides, Joe and Pat Party, Golf Outings, Spelling Bee, Essay Contest, Free Throw Contest, Christmas Party, Easter Party, track Meet, Drug Awareness Program, Special Olympics Bowling Tournament, MH/LD Tootsie Roll Drive and the Annual Mayslake Retreat. The Knights of Columbus Council 5918 held a successful 2008 Easter Egg Hunt and Party for the children of St. Joan of Arc, St. Scholastica and Christ the Servant Parishes on March 8, 2008. We will post photos of this event, when they are available. The council would like to thank all those who made this event happen! We look forward to having the Easter Bunny return again next year! The Robert P. Connelly Council #5918 of the Knights of Columbus in the Lisle/Woodridge communities is proud to announce the Leonard M. Jarka Honorary Scholarship program. Mr. Jarka is a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus who continues to demonstrate the highest degree of involvement in the community through volunteerism, particularly in the areas of youth and senior citizen activities. The Knights of Columbus, a Catholic men’s fraternal organization supports church, community, and youth activities as well as providing charitable assistance for the handicapped. There are three (3) separate scholarships that are available annually;
Step 1: Obtain the Application By clicking below, you will open the word document. Make sure you save your scholarship application on your computer. Make sure you save your document in Word 2000, Word 2002 or Word 2003 format only. Also be sure to run a virus scan against your document. We will scan for viruses. If one is detected, we will not accept the Word Document. Step 2: Complete the Application Please follow the directions within the word file to complete your scholarship application. Once you have completed your scholarship application, you can submit your application. Step 3: Submit the Application You have three options of how to submit your scholarship application. OPTION 1: Personally deliver the scholarship application. OPTION 2: Mail the scholarship application through the U.S. Post Office. Knights of Columbus P.O. The 110th Illinois State Convention will be held on May 23 - May 25, 2008 at the Westin Hotel located on the east end of the Yorktown Shopping Center in Lombard, Illinois. The facility is located approximately 23 miles west of downtown Chicago, Illinois. Visitors will have the opportunity to visit many of the sites surrounding the convention along with the opportunity to visit the city of Chicago. Don't miss this golden opportunity to attend a state convention right in our own backyard. Below is the information packet mailed to all of the Grand Knights. The packet contains the hotel reservation information, dinner reservation along with an itinerary of events. There is also list of sites to see in the surrounding area. If you have not attended a state convention, here's a great chance to enjoy the fraternity of brother knights and their families. This years State Convention will begin with a Friday Night Social that will have a "Royal Polynesian Revue". Come dressed in your best Hawaiian attire and participate in the "Wildest Shirt Contest". This will be a night of games, dancing and fun. Bring your families! On Saturday, you will have the opportunity to see our new State Squires installed and hear reports on how well we did in programming and charity. There will be a report on our state essay contest, spelling bee, bowling tournament, softball tournament golf tournament, along with the free throw contest. There will an award ceremony where the State Knight of Year, State Family of the Year Award and the Rising Star Award will be presented. Additionally, there will be council awards for Insurance, MR/LD, General Assistance, Newman, Membership, Newsletter, Scrap Books, Pro-Life, Public Relations, and the Illinois Spirit Awards. The Ladies Auxiliary will also be recognized with awards of Service, Outstanding Auxiliary and Best Scrapbook. On Saturday, you can also attend the Joliet Diocese Caucus, Mass at the Convention (counts as Sunday obligation), State Deputy's Banquet and even have reconciliation by Bishop Roger Kaffer. Bishop Roger Kaffer has a "Blue Light Special" on reconciliation. Ask about this special reconciliation. On Sunday, there will be an election of State Officers and Delegates to the Supreme Convention. This year our council is fortunate to have one our council members, Jerry Bevignani who is Joliet Diocesan Membership Chairman running for the office of State Warden. Come out and support Jerry in this great endeavor. During the state convention, you will also have the opportunity to visit the Country Store which will have a lot of Knights of Columbus merchandise on display. There will be training sessions available at no charge! There will a day trip to Enchanted Castle for the children 5 and up at $11.95 a person. This cost includes transportation, 2 large pieces of pizza, soda, and 20 game tokens. The children can also stay with us during the State Deputy's Banquet, where they will be entertained with a variety of electronic games, crafts and movies. Food will also be provided.
